Troubleshooting: How to Unlock the Next Module in Your Course

This article explains how to resolve locked course modules by detailing the strict requirement to watch all videos sequentially to the very end without skipping, alongside troubleshooting tips for progress tracking issues.

Written by Dr. Boz Team

We understand how frustrating it can be when you are eager to learn and improve your health, but find yourself unexpectedly locked out of the next section of your course. Whether you are rewiring your metabolism in the 21-Day Metabolic Kick or mastering your chemistry in Consistently Keto, our learning platform is designed to guide you step-by-step.

If you are unable to progress, it is almost always related to how our system tracks your video progress.

Let’s break down exactly how this system works, why Dr. Boz structured it this way to ensure your success, and provide a comprehensive, step-by-step troubleshooting guide to get you moving forward again.

The Core Rule: 100% Sequential Completion

Our system is automated and relies on precise progress tracking to unlock subsequent materials. To move forward, you must meet two non-negotiable criteria:

  • Chronological Progression: You must complete Module 1.1 before Module 1.2 will become available. Skipping ahead to future modules or bouncing between different sections is not possible.

  • 100% Video Completion: To unlock the next step, our system must register that you have watched every single second of the current video. Leaving even one second unwatched at the very end will prevent the system from marking the module as complete.

How To Move Onto The Next Module

  • Complete Each Module in Chronological Order: The courses are sequential, meaning you must complete Module 1.1 before Module 1.2 will unlock, and so on. Skipping around or jumping ahead is not allowed to ensure you build on foundational Knowledge.

  • Watch Videos to the Very End: To unlock the next module, you must watch the video content every second. Even leaving a single second unwatched will prevent the system from registering the module as complete.

  • Do Not Close the Video Early: If you stop watching the video, close your browser, or skip ahead without letting the video play to the end, the system will not mark it as completed. You will need to go back and rewatch it in its entirety to unlock the next section.

Why Can’t I Skip Ahead?

Our asynchronous courses are meticulously designed to ensure every participant receives the full, intended educational experience. Because this material often builds on complex physiological concepts, skipping content can hinder your long-term success. Here is why we enforce strict sequential learning:

  • Progressive Knowledge Building: Each concept acts as a building block for the next. Skipping steps creates knowledge gaps that make advanced sections confusing or overwhelming.

  • Consistent Baseline Learning: Requiring full completion guarantees that every student shares the exact same foundational understanding of their biology before tackling complex topics.

  • Crucial End-of-Video Details: The final few seconds of a video frequently contain vital summaries, homework assignments, or specific instructions on how to approach the next module.

  • Minimizing Preventable Errors: Proceeding without the full context often leads to misunderstandings, misapplied health protocols, and unnecessary frustration.

Tips to Unlock the Next Module Successfully

  • Let the Video Play to the End: Allow the video to complete fully before closing the browser or navigating away. Wait until the video automatically marks itself as finished.

  • Check for Progress Indicators: Look for confirmation that the module has been marked as completed. Our system shows a checkmark when a video is fully watched.

  • Avoid Multitasking or Skipping: Stay focused on the content to avoid accidentally pausing or stopping the video before it ends.

  • Review Problematic Modules: If you’re stuck, revisit the previous module and ensure it’s marked as complete. Most times, going back and letting the video play to the end will resolve the issue.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting Guide

If the quick fixes above did not resolve your issue, please locate your specific device below and follow these hyper-granular steps.

Phase 1: Standard Viewing Best Practices (All Devices)

Before diving into technical settings, double-check your viewing habits:

  • Let the Video Auto-Complete: Do not close your browser, switch tabs, or click "Next" the moment Dr. Boz finishes speaking. Let the video player run completely to the black screen at the end.

  • Look for the Visual Checkmark: Navigate back to your course dashboard. Ensure there is a visible "completion checkmark" next to the module you just watched. If it is missing, the system did not register your view.

  • Do Not Fast-Forward: Dragging the video scrubber to the end of the video does not count as watching it. The player tracks continuous playback time. If you skipped through, you must re-watch the video at normal speed.

  • Avoid Multitasking: Switching to other browser tabs while the video plays can sometimes cause the video to auto-pause in the background, preventing completion.

Phase 2: Technical & Browser Troubleshooting

If you are absolutely certain you watched every second of the video at normal speed and the next module remains locked, you may be experiencing a localized browser conflict.

  • Hard Refresh the Page: Sometimes the visual dashboard fails to sync with our servers.

    • Windows: Press Ctrl + F5

    • Mac: Press Cmd + Shift + R

  • Try an Incognito/Private Window: Open a private browsing window, log back into your account, and check your progress. If the module is unlocked here, your standard browser has a caching issue.

  • Clear Your Browser Cache and Cookies: Stored data can sometimes conflict with our tracking software. Clear your cache and cookies in your browser settings, restart your browser, and log in again.

  • Disable Ad-Blockers and Privacy Extensions: Strict privacy extensions, ad-blockers, or VPNs can sometimes block the background script that tells our system you finished the video. Temporarily disable them while watching the course.

  • Test a Different Browser or Device: If you are using Safari, try Chrome or Firefox. If you are on a smartphone, try logging in on a desktop computer to see if the issue persists.
